Spurred on by wellness, Life Care Center of Richland associates participate in run

Twenty-two associates from Life Care Center of Richland, Wash., donned their running shoes, gloves and mittens to participate in the 34th Annual Lampson Cable Bridge Run on Dec. 15, 2012.

Despite the chilly morning air along the Columbia River, associates from all departments gathered together, outfitted with matching bright green T-shirts. Most of the team ran or walked the 5k, with a few brave souls going for the full 10k.

This was the first year the facility contributed a team to the event, which is put on by the Parks and Recreation department for the Tri-Cities area (Pasco, Kennewick and Richland, Wash.).

“This year multiple staff have made lifestyle changes, such as weight loss and exercise programs,” Kathleen Derting, admissions and marketing nurse, explained.

Following the run, Carole Allenbaugh, social services director, and her husband, Bill, treated the participants to a hot breakfast at their country home.
