Life Care Center of Cleveland, Tenn., Garden Plaza at Cleveland and Life Care at Home joined together for a Fall Festival on Oct. 27, 2012, with something for everyone – from pumpkin painting to a chili cook-off to a grandparent look-alike contest.
Claire McNeiland from Life Care at Home in Cleveland won the chili contest, while local firemen judged Steve Augenstein and his grandson Zachary Majeske the winners of the look-alike competition.
The local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter had a booth at the event, with veterans from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War available to share stories of their service and answer questions. The group members also performed the presentation of the colors.
“It was a really nice event and really informative,” said Bill Norwood, a veteran of the Korean War and member of the VFW. “Most importantly, we were able to provide the veterans with helpful information about their health care and benefits. We do what we can to help our fellow veterans.”
Other highlights at the festival included a silent auction, a clown, inflatable mazes, arts and crafts for sale, and a fire engine for children to tour.
For the hungry, Buffalo Wild Wings, Mark’s Hot Dogs, Smoothie King, Little Caesar’s, Life Care Center of Cleveland and Garden Plaza at Cleveland provided a variety of food.
