Car show at Life Care Center of Morgan County supports fight against Alzheimer’s

On Sept. 7, 2012, the Southern Auto Cruisers brought 12 vehicles to Life Care Center of Morgan County in Wartburg, Tenn., for a classic car show.

Associates dressed up in 1950s style and brought the residents out to the parking lot where the vehicles helped residents reminisce.

“These are such beautiful cars,” said resident Joe Walls. “I really like to see all of them and visit with the Cruisers.”

Debbie Miller, A-Wing unit manager, Alz-Stars member and daughter of one of the Cruisers, organized the car show. She bought hot dogs and fixings for the auto owners to show how much they were appreciated.

The car show was one of the many ways that the facility observed the first-ever Morgan County Alzheimer’s Awareness Week. The Alz-Stars (the facility team supporting Alzheimer’s Tennessee) got the community and facility involved with different events each day during the week, including a luncheon on the 6th to show appreciation to long-time supporters in the fight against Alzheimer’s.
