Life Care Center of Punta Gorda resident celebrates 105 years of life

Born on Nov. 4, 1907, Tillie Brown recently celebrated her 105th birthday at Life Care Center of Punta Gorda, Fla.

Growing up in Hull, Fla., Brown was part of a family of 16 children. Her favorite pastimes, besides taking care of her large family, were going fishing, attending church and listening to spiritual music. Brown worked as a housekeeper and also worked picking and packing fruit.

In 1942, she married Henry Brown, and they had seven children, two of which are still living – their daughter Margaret and son Robert. Brown is now a great-great-great-grandmother.

Associates from the activities department held a party for Brown, which was attended by multiple family members as well as friends and associates. Brown celebrated by reciting Bible verses word for word without hesitation.

Brown attributes her longevity to “believing in and following the Lord.”

After enjoying her cake and opening her many presents, Brown thanked everyone for celebrating with her and said she hoped to see them all at her 106th birthday.
