On Oct. 24, 2012, four Life Care centers in Missouri were represented at Signature Healthcare Foundation’s 10th Annual Health Policy Forum and received the prestigious Senator Paul Simon Award.
The honor recognizes innovation among health care organizations that are providing higher quality with improved efficiencies directed by physician involvement. The Life Care centers in St. Louis, Bridgeton and Florissant, as well as The Westchester House in Chesterfield, were represented.
Associates were able to share why Life Care is a leading organization, citing several care examples provided by Life Care Physician Services’ on-site physician initiative, along with cost-saving metrics used in several St. Louis-area facilities.
“This is an important step, defining Life Care as the premier provider of post-acute services with a keen focus on quality, efficiency and sustainability in the market,” said John Maxwell, director of operations for Signature Medical Group.
Signature Medical Group, the parent organization for Signature Healthcare Foundation, is the largest independent physician group in Missouri, based in St. Louis and stretching to Kansas City.
Jeff Hoehn, vice president of Life Care’s Missouri Region, shared, “The recognition of our physician initiative and the public sharing of many success stories associated with the program have allowed our local leadership to gain the audience and partnership of St. Louis’ most influential health care leaders.”
Hoehn explained, “Major hospital and local managed care organizations’ CEOs and leaders were present to hear our presentation and the wonderful message behind our programs. Many follow-up appointments with those leaders have already been set up.”
