Life Care Center of Hixson, Tenn., held its first rehab reunion on Nov. 7, 2012.
Former rehab graduates and their families were invited to attend the rehab reunion to celebrate their success of graduating from the Ready…Set… Go! return-to-home program.
The event was an open-house format, but many former patients stayed for more than an hour as they visited with other former patients and the associates who helped them return home. Thanks to the creative talents of Chef Lucien Lamontagne, guests enjoyed a coffee bar and chocolate fountain with various fruits and cakes for dipping.
Many of the former residents brought cameras and took pictures with therapists, nursing associates and housekeepers.
“It was amazing to see the transformation from when these patients were admitted to when they discharged from our facility to now being independent at home,” said Angie Stiltner, community relations director.
Thelma Bryant, a former resident and a current outpatient, said, “This was such a nice event. If I have to have therapy again, I will come back here. You took really good care of me.”
Another former rehab graduate, Jerry Jordan, attended the reunion with his wife, Lois.
“Our family was so appreciative of the care that Jerry received while he was here,” she said. “He is doing so well now and only uses a cane every once in a while.”
At the end of the reunion, all graduates and family members took home a Life Care Center of Hixson coffee cup and an insulated bag.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to continue to celebrate the goals they’ve met and to wish them continued success in all they do. We can’t wait to do this again next year,” said Stiltner.
Julie Sosebee, rehab services manager, agreed.
“It was so nice to see how well all our former patients are doing,” she said. “It is wonderful to see the results of the work we and the patients put into their recovery.”
