About Life Care - Philosophy

Our business is about people - our residents, associates, family members and the community. To me, there can be no greater calling in my life than to be able to have an impact for good upon the lives of those with special needs, particularly the frail and the elderly. I think often of Dorathy Giehm, my adopted aunt, who lived at Life Care Center of Tucson in Arizona. She died in 2000, just weeks after celebrating her 108th birthday.

What a rich and full life she had - not just in terms of numbers of years, but in the way she approached life. She participated in the handbell choir, enjoyed making ceramics, and had an extraordinary talent for painting - and she didn't start taking art lessons until age 102. She was proud to call Life Care Center of Tucson home, and the staff, other residents and volunteers became a part of her own family, just as she adopted me as her nephew.

She and the thousands of others like her offer satisfaction and a sense of fulfillment that are unmatched. And you know what? The associates who care for them feel the same way that I do. That's what makes Life Care a very special company.
