Life Care Center of Orange Park associates participate in breast cancer walk

On Oct. 11, 2008, more than a dozen associates from Life Care Center of Orange Park, Fla., and their families, participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Orange Park.
The walk took place along a 3.1-mile strip of the St. John's River and raised funds for the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer efforts. Life Care Center of Orange Park associates turned in a total of $1,065 at the event – far surpassing their original goal of $500.
"We had so much fun for such a good cause," said Karin Costandi, director of nursing at the facility. "Our activities leading up to the walk helped bring awareness to the need for breast cancer research as well."
The facility raised money by selling pink ribbons for $1 each, having soup lunches with all proceeds going toward the event and selling pink cookies in keeping with the theme.
This was the facility's first year participating in the walk.
